The Kathleen and Michael Connolly Foundation pledged £50,000 towards a new building project which will result in the redevelopment of the care home.

The total cost of the re-build is £515,000 and it will completely refurbish the entire home providing everyone who uses it with a range of new facilities.

The current Bedfordshire Cheshire Home, Agate House in Ampthill, was built in 1977. It is a one-storey building offering accommodation for thirty-two severely disabled people between the ages of 18 and 65. The Home provides continuous nursing and care services to ensure a good quality of life for the residents, and has achieved the Investors in People Quality Assurance Award. The new home in Ampthill will not only exceed the new Government regulations, it will provide a great place for the residents to live, and will be a first-class asset for the region.

"This wonderful support helps substantially launch our campaign to riase the £515,000 needed for our re-development, and we are so grateful for your kindness." - Maria Spearing, Chairman of the Appeal Committee
