Loneliness becomes an increasing issue for older people as their mobility degreases and they become more vulnerable. The Connolly Foundation supports organisations that care for, befriend and advocate for older people. These include:

Al’s Pals

Home support for people living at home with terminal illnesses

 

CYCD

Using community facilities in Luton to welcome in seven different groups from the Hindu, Muslim and Sikh communities, giving them an opportunity for social contact, advice on benefits and language skills.

 

Respite at Home Volunteers

Setting up social hubs in Flitwick and Biggleswade to support terminally ill, lonely and isolated members of communities.

 

Sight Concern Bedfordshire

Community based support for people in Bedford with visual impairments, including advice and guidance on access to IT.

 

Friends For Life

A befriending service for older people living in care homes in Bedford.
